Anda suka googling?

Ndak perlu. This service is totally free!

TECHNOLOGY & STRUCTURE

TECHNOLOGY & STRUCTURE TECNOLOGICAL SOLUTIONS TO HR PROBLEMS :
ERGONOMICS AT TOYOTA
An example of the biological approach to job design is evidence recently in the Japanese automobile industry. Historical, Japanese automakers have asked for employees to participate in decision making through quality circles. However, faced with an increasing shortage of skilled workers, increasing absenteeism and turnover, and employee desires for a high quality work life, Japanese automakers are beginning to rethink their approach to job design.
One such change is to redesign the machinery that employees use in the assembly process. In the past, automobiles passed by an employee on a noisy chain-driven conveyor, and the employee would lean over, crouch down under, or reach into the car to attach the part where it belonged. However, at Toyota’s high-teach Tahara No. 4 line, new electric vehicle carriers were installed to minimize the movements that an assembler would have to make that might put undue stress on their bodies. These new lines automatically adjust a car’s height at every workstation to enable the employee to perform his or her without undue stress.
According to the plant’s general manager Hiromitsu Hayasida, the goal is to reduce the turnover of high-quality, expensively trained workers by making a comfortable working environment for them. How successful has this been? Toyota reports that during its first year of operation, not one employee quit Tahara’s No. 4 line, compared with a typical turnover of 25 to 30 percent during a plant’s first year of operations.

MARKETING AND PROMOTION

MARKETING AND PROMOTION
When a company starts to sell goods in a new market, they often do some market research or a preliminary study to see if the project is feasible. They research ( investigate ) the market potential or do a feasibility study to see if they will make money by selling in the new market ( i.e to see if product/ project is viable).
One way to assess the market potential is to take a stand at a trade fair where companies can exhibit samples of their product and see what response they get from prospective costumers the trade fair is an exhibition of goods and a company exhibits a sample of its product at its stand. This is also a form of publicity ( or advertising ) and the company representative will probably hand out publicity brochures to advertise ( or promote ) the product further. Often journalist ( the press conference if they want to promote a particular model or range. ( Each different type of car, bike etc. is model. All the different models made by a company’s catalogue. The catalogue is a booklet or brochure).
Another way of promotion ( or publicizing ) a new product is to place advertisements in magazine or newspapers. Advertisements are also called advert or ads for short. A plant to do a lot of a advertising of one product is called a campaign. Starting an advertising campaign on a new product is known as launching the product.
The aim of publicity promotion is to interest customers ( or buyers, or client ) in the product initially customers might make enquiries about the product. When they decide to buy, they place an order. At a trade fair companies are trying to win (obtain ) as many orders as possible. However before a clients placer an order he wants to know many things : how long delivery takes whether the company can supply replacement and spare part, what the after components. If one of the components breaks the complicated, skilled workers might be needed to fit spare parts or to service or maintain the machinery any maintenance or servicing the company does after it has sold the product is called after sales service.

JAPANESE MANAGERS ADOPT AMERICAN

JAPANESE MANAGERS ADOPT AMERICAN

A common theme among American management thought is that US companies need to look to Japan to find the proper ways to manage people. People point to the participative management styles, quality ciders, and employee loyalty to the company as practices that should be replicated in American companies. However, people seldom discuss the American practice that the Japanese admire.
A recent survey of over 400 senior Japanese executives working in American revealed that these Managers Admire a number management practice and characteristic about workers in the united States has given much more attention than Japan to equal opportunity for women and minorities. He stated, “Today more and more women are working in Japan, but they don’t have enough opportunity these to climb the corporate ladder”.
In addition, although American Admire the group decision-making process of Japanese organizations, Japanese managers admire the assertiveness and individuality they observe among Americans, said one managers, “I like the U.S. system of amore decentralized form of management. I like the idea of giving more power to individuals to make keys decisions in a group, which is the way it is done Japan”.
Thus, it Appears that as international commerce continues to expand Into a global eco
nomy, managers form different cultures will look to most effective aspect of other cultures to help them manage human resources more effectively.
Just as U.S. managers will continue to learn from their international counterparts, so these counterparts seem to be learning from the United States.

TOTAL QUALITY MANAGEMENT

TOTAL QUALITY MANAGEMENT
Continuous improvement is fundamental for establishing a state of manufacturing excellence is the key to survival in today’s world-class competitive environment. Producing products with little waste that actually perform according to specifications are the twin objectives of world-class firms. A philosophy of total quality management, in which manufactures strive to create an environment that will enable workers to manufacture perfect (zero-defect) product, is replacing the “acceptable quality“ Attitudes of the past. This increased emphasis on quality has also created a demand for a management accounting system that provides financial and non financial information about quality.
Service industries are also dedicated to improving quality. Service firms present special problems because quality may differ from employee to employee. As a result, service firms are emphasizing consistency thorough the development of systems to support employee efforts, for example, USSA, a financial services company specializing in insurance for current former military officers, invested heavily in information technology in the mid-1980s. Incoming document (for example, policy applications, checks, and appraisals) are scanned electronically and stored on optical disks. When a customer calls USSA to see if a policy application for a new house has been received, a service representative can check the customer’s file on the computer and answer the question immediately. This is in contrast to the old system which required USSA reps to search a warehouse or other rep’s disks for the relevant files-a process that could take up to two weeks.
Quality cost measurement and reporting are key features of the contemporary management accounting system for both cases, the management accounting system should be able to provide both operational and financial information about quality, including information such as the number of defects, quality cost reports, quality cost trend reports, and quality cost performance reports.

PRINCING AND SALES

PRINCING AND SALES

Before a company can quote a price (or give a quotation ) for goods, they must take into consideration all their costs : the production costs, shipping, insurance, etc. the total of all these costs is called the overall cost. The costing is usually done before a model is produced or exported, so the company must calculate (or work out) their overall costs in advance. From these figures they can work out the cost of each model (the unit cost). All the calculations are written on the costing sheet. The company also takes into consideration their profit. They will usually allow a profit margin of at least 10 %. So when a company give a quotation for a model, they have built into the price their overall costs and profit margin.
There are other factors, which affect the price of goods, for example the law of supply and demand. If a product is in demand (many people want to buy it) and not many firms can supply the product, then the company can charge a higher unit price. On the other hand, making goods in large quantities is comparatively cheaper than producing goods in small quantities. If there is a big demand for a model, a company can produce it in large quantities and they should be able to quote a lower unit price.
Two of the departments in a company which deal with pricing and selling goods are the sales department and the accounts department. The sales staff handle the basic forms involved in selling goods ( the invoice and the statement). The form sent by the buyer requesting goods is the order. The form which accompanies the goods or which is sent to the buyer signs the delivery note which is then a receipt for the seller to prove the buyer received the goods. The sales department then gives the signed delivery note to the accounts department will send the buyer an account each month Which shows details of all the transactions that mouth. The account is called a statement. The transactions are all the invoices the seller has sent and the money received.

TOTAL QUALITY MANAGEMENT AT ALLIED SIGNAL

Since Lawrence Bossidy took over as chief executive at allied signal operating profits have increase by 28.5 percent, return on shareholder’s equity jumped from 8.0 percent to 17 percent, and the stock price has risen from 29 ⅜ to 55 1/2. How did this turnaround take place? Bossidy has implemented a total house cleaning and culture change, in which HR has played an important role.
First, Bossidy develop a statement of corporate vision (“one of the world’s premier companies, distinctive and successful “) and values (e.g., customers satisfaction, integrity, team work and speed). Although this statement seems to be standard fare for corporate vision/value statement, it has galvanized people.
Second, he immersed the company in total quality management as a means of turning the vision and values into reality. For example, to implement the total quality management program, all 90.000 employee will attend a four-day course in total quality management concepts, procedures, and applications.
Finally, he implemented a top-to bottom change in human resources pool, teams of top managers developed detailed plants for revamping college recruiting, staffing, career development and training and education. These teams studied top companies such as corning, Bechtel, Hewlett-Packard, and Johnson & Johnson, using them as benchmarks. In addition, they held focus group with employee to identify how HR could better serve the needs of employee. Their Masters plan is to develop a deeper pool of human capital through career patching, rotating managers across businesses, and management education. Bossidy believes that this investment in people will help allied signal achieve its ambitious growth goals.
